Sleep is essential for overall well-being — impacting mood, cognitive functions, immune system resilience, and cardiovascular health. Despite the pivotal role of a restful night, many of us struggle with achieving deep sleep. If conventional approaches such as melatonin and other remedies have proven ineffective in preventing your 3am wake ups, we created First Person’s Moonlight for you. Moonlight is formulated to help your body’s natural production of GABA and get you into and increase your time in deep cycle sleep.*

GABA is a neurotransmitter that blocks chemical signals in the central nervous system and reduces brain activity. GABA can help promote calmness in the body and helps regulate nerve cell hyperactivity when feeling fearful, anxious, or stressed.  Low GABA levels have actually been linked to sleep deprivation, as one study found participants with insomnia had 30% lower levels of GABA in their systems.

Deep sleep, which is the third stage of sleep, serves repairing and restorative functions that are necessary to feel your best each day. Experts believe that this stage is critical for allowing for bodily recovery and memory consolidation. Not getting enough deep sleep can cause learning difficulties, make you susceptible to infection, and put you at risk for long-term health concerns.

Melatonin is a hormone the body produces in response to the circadian rhythm and plays a role in regulating wake cycles. Generally, our bodies produce sufficient melatonin for our needs and there are natural ways to increase melatonin production such as exposure to early morning sunlight.  Melatonin supplements have been shown to support getting to sleep, although it is only recommended for short term use and studies have shown melatonin supplementation to reduce deep cycle sleep. Oral consumption of melatonin in appropriate doses is generally safe, but some individuals report experiencing grogginess the following day. Additionally, known side effects include headaches, nausea, short-term depression, mild anxiety, and confusion or disorientation.

We’ve curated an efficacious doses of L-Theanine, Holy Basil, Passion Flower, Reishi and Kava into Moonlight to ensure your brain gets the deep sleep it needs to perform at its best for your active life.*
